LIFEBLOOD MEDICAL, INC. AND THE MEDICAL COLLEGE OF WISCONSIN ANNOUNCE RESEARCH COLLABORATION TO EXTEND ORGAN PRESERVATION BEYOND 36 HOURS

Success could make possible first-ever worldwide organ network

FREEHOLD, NJ - May 18, 2006 - Lifeblood Medical, Inc. has entered into two separate agreements with the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) to study and enhance Lifeblood Medical's proprietary solution LIFOR®. The studies will focus on ways to increase LIFOR®'s ability to preserve human hearts and kidneys in a transplantable condition beyond thirty-six hours.

“We are excited to have a major national research center assisting us in our studies,” says Lifeblood Medical, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph Fischer. “Our goal is to extend LIFOR®'s cell-preservation time to the point where no organ goes unused. “

“The current wait for an American on the national waiting list is five to eight years, and is expected to double by 2010. By providing the research that will help lengthen the time organs remain viable in LIFOR®, organ procurement organizations will gain the time needed to cross match and test organs for viral and other infections. Additional time will be available for organ transportation, not only in the United States but overseas. The execution of these objectives will allow us to have readily available organs for the first time ever through a worldwide organ network.”

Leading the research team is Dr. David R. Harder, Ph.D., the Chief Science Consultant and Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of Lifeblood Medical, Inc. Assisting him in these studies will be Dr. David F. Stowe, M.D.,Ph.D. and Dr. Richard J. Roman, Ph.D.

David F. Stowe, M.D., Ph.D. is a noted researcher, editor NIH study section member and lecturer. Dr. Stowe received his M.D from the Medical College of Wisconsin and his Ph.D. from Michigan State University. His research interests include the heart's response to temperature and anesthesia, which will be of tremendous value in the study of Lifeblood Medical, Inc.'s proprietary technology as it pertains to room temperature preservation of hearts prior to transplantation.

Richard J. Roman, Ph.D. will focus his efforts on extending the viability of kidneys at room temperature using LIFOR® solution. Dr. Roman received his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee and did his Postdoctoral Research at the Harvard Medical School. He is currently Professor of Medicine and Physiology and Director of the Kidney Disease Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin. A noted researcher, lecturer and professor, Dr. Roman is a prolific author with 261 papers and 241 abstracts to his credit. He is an expert on the physiology of the kidney and is an invited speaker at prestigious conferences throughout the world.
