Our full line of products consisting of LIFOR® will be targeted toward the organ transplant markets. Based on our research and the initial results of studies by independent third parties, LIFOR® significantly lengthens the viability of recovered organs. Our solution not only lengthens the preservation time, but also continuously nourishes the organ cells through its proprietary oxygen and nutrient carrying properties. For example, using currently available solutions, solid organs such as kidneys and livers can be preserved without damage for twelve hours, whereas LIFOR® allows 36 hours, or a three-fold increase. LIFOR® will support the recovery, transportation and reimplantation of kidneys, livers and hearts, as well as connective and other essential therapeutic tissues.
Our first major study comparing Lifor® to the industry’s current gold standard for heart preservation exceeded expectations. Entitled Room Temperature Ten Hour Heart Preservation Study with Lifor®, we have successfully proved that Lifor® is an effective and convenient preservation medium for hearts during a long transport that would not require severe cooling and refrigeration and supplemental oxygen to restore viability during implantation.
