Lifor Expands Organ Preservation Application Into Small Intestine
Freehold, NJ August 2, 2011 (Lifeblood Medical, Inc.)
A proof of concept study has proven that Lifor® can successfully preserve canine small intestine up to nine hours when compared to UW Solution.
“This is the first study using Lifor® in preserving intestine, and the results are encouraging. I am pleased to note that not only was this a different large animal study that shows the ability of Lifor® to preserve any cell and organ in the body, but this was a study performed through the desire of improving organ preservation,” stated Joseph Fischer, President and CEO of Lifeblood Medical, Inc.. “Lifeblood neither paid nor sponsored this study in any way and yet there is part of a poster presentation at a major conference.”
The study will be presented through a poster presentation at the 2011 International Small Bowel Transplant Symposium, to be held in September in Washington, DC. The meeting is hosted by the Intestinal Transplant Association whose goal in these symposiums is to move forward with new innovations, leading to dynamic collaborations and future studies.
